Tomasovsky vyhlad (Tomasovsky view) in Slovak Paradise
Slovak Paradise Index

Slovak Paradise

Slovak Paradise is most distinguished from all national parks in Slovakia. With its gorges, waterfalls and ladders creates unrepeatable place in the middle of pure nature, where you can go and see to gather unreproducible experience.

Slovak Paradise is situated amongst another interesting mountains: on north west neighbours with High Tatras, on the west there are Low Tatras there, on the south are Muranska Planina and Volovske Vrchy. Nearest bigger town is roughly 10 km distant Poprad, where is international airport. From London you can get to Poprad by regular line from Sky Europe Airlines.

The comparatively flat and rather short mountains of Slovak Paradise were uplifted in Tertiary and Quaternary ages, from now to 63 million years ago, which caused that local river network eroded and created narrow and deep valleys.

Nowadays, difficult parts of gorges are equipped with ladders, risers and climbing irons to enable even less skilled hikers to admire being here. Most interesting parts are declared as notional natural reservations: Sokol, Piecky, Suchá Belá, Kysel, Prielom Hornádu, Stratená, Zejmarská roklina, Holý kamen, Vernárska tiesnava, Tri kopce and Hnilecká Jelšina. Here you can find most precious botanical exemplares and if you are lucky to see chamois, deer, wolf, fox, bear, bobcat, salamander or eagle.

Cycling, horse riding, swimming, sightseeing, rock or ice climbing or hill walking, skiing or snowboarding, everything is possible in Slovak Paradise. Real fresh air will clean your lungs, the woods will please your soul, and the world famous beauty of the local girls will smooth your eyes.
